Hey family, let us keep the conversation going from our latest episode of Perspective. On Episode 20, we laughed, shared, and got real about holiday stress with Isis Jones, Jasmine Stinson, and Councilor Clinton Woods. We covered everything from crazy traditions to overspending, and I want to take a moment to dive deeper into some of those topics with you.

Crazy Christmas Traditions

Remember how we laughed about some of those wild family traditions? Singing off-key carols, elaborate decorating competitions, or just the little quirks that somehow become non-negotiable? The reason these traditions drive us crazy is also why they matter. They are moments we remember and talk about for years. Even if they stress you out, lean into them a little and enjoy the memories.

Overspending and Gift Madness

We also talked about overspending and the scramble for the perfect gift. How often do we get caught up in buying and forget about the joy of giving? That last-minute panic at the store or realizing you got one too many gifts is almost a holiday rite of passage. This year, slow down, focus on meaningful gifts, and laugh at the chaos instead of letting it steal your joy.

Cooking Chaos

The kitchen chaos discussion is still sticking with me. That one family member who wants to control everything or those last-minute requests to cook a dish; we all know them. The takeaway is simple: it is okay to set boundaries and it is okay to delegate. Humor goes a long way, but clear communication keeps everyone from losing their minds.

Kids and Co-Parenting

A serious topic we discussed was co-parenting and who the kids spend Christmas with. With divorced or single parents, communication is key. Are your kids feeling included and loved? Can you let go of control in favor of their happiness? Grace and cooperation can make these moments joyful instead of stressful.

Evaluating Your Year

We also talked about reflecting on your year. Are you feeling like you accomplished enough? Often, we focus on what we did not do and forget to celebrate what we did achieve. Honor your wins, no matter the size. Growth is often in the small consistent steps we take.

Holiday Weight Gain and Family Control

Yes, we laughed about holiday weight gain and that one relative who wants to control everything. These stressors are real, but the key is balance and perspective. Enjoy the food, have fun, and let the control freak have a little space. It will save your energy and your holiday spirit.

Keep the Conversation Going

The podcast was just the start. Take these conversations home. Talk with your family about expectations, check in with your kids, and make time for yourself. Reflect on your year and celebrate the wins. Laugh at the chaos, breathe through the stress, and remember the holidays are about connection, love, and joy, not perfection.

Call To Action

Share this episode with someone who needs a little stress relief or a laugh. Take one small action this week to reduce your holiday stress. Check in on a friend, set a boundary in your family, or take a quiet moment for yourself. Start the conversation, make space for joy, and lean into the love and growth the season can bring.
